How do I buy?
You can either browse for your books by category, or use the search functionality within the menu bar. You can then click on the book title or image for further details.
Found the products you want to buy? Click on the ‘Add to cart’ button. Your shopping cart contains all the products that you have selected to buy. Once you’ve added an item to your Shopping Cart, keep searching until your cart contains all of the items you want to order. You can access the contents of your Shopping Cart at any time by clicking on the cart icon near the top right of the page.
You may also items to your Wish List by hovering over the book cover image and clicking on the ‘heart’ icon. Your Wish List is a handy list of all the items you do not want to checkout with immediately. You can move items between your Checkout list and Wish List.
To enter checkout, click on the shopping cart icon, and select either ‘view cart’ (for a detailed listing of the item in your cart) or you can directly click the ‘checkout’ button.
Enter your billing and/or delivery details. Please make sure this information is correct! Optionally, you may choose to create an account so that your delivery details & order history can be saved for future visits.
Once your address has been entered you will be able to choose a delivery method.
Select your payment method, and click on the ‘place order’ button on the bottom right of the page. Follow the prompts to complete the payment.
After completing the payment, an order summary will be displayed and an email confirmation will be sent. If you have selected the courier delivery method, we will email the tracking number to you as soon as it has been dispatched.
What are my payment options?
We accept Visa and MasterCard/Maestro. Your credit/cheque card details, (Name on card, number, expiry date and last 3 digits on the back of your card) will be requested on the Payment page.
If you don’t have or don’t wish to use a credit card, we also offer an Instant EFT method if you are paying via an ABSA, FNB, Nedbank or Standard Bank account.
All transactions are processed securely via PayFast. All African Books does not record or store any of your card details.
For international orders, we offer payment via PayPal. You can pay directly with your credit card if you don’t have a PayPal account.
We do accept payment by direct bank transfers (EFT), so you don’t need a credit card.
Once you’ve placed your order, you will be presented with all the information that you need to make the payment.
Just specify your order number as a reference when making the deposit and we will assign the money to your order as soon as it appears on our statement. This usually takes a day or two, and you will receive an automated email confirmation once we have it.

What are my delivery options?
Local SAPO ( South African Post Office ) which is a counter to counter service. Once orders have been placed the expected waiting time for this service will usually take 5-10 working days.
We deliver directly to your home or office from one of our warehouses, anywhere in South Africa. All delivery and tracking details are supplied to you at checkout.
We offer both Airmail and Surface Mail delivery options on International orders.
Airmail is far quicker, although can still take up to 21 working days depending on the country.
Surface Mail usually takes over 1 month and up to 2 months.
When will I receive my parcel?
It depends on what’s on the order and the delivery method you choose. There are two components to the time taken – the time to dispatch, and the time to deliver. Dispatch time usually takes between 7 to 10 days if we don’t have the book in stock. Once we dispatch the order, the time taken for you to receive depends on the delivery method you choose. This can vary from 1 day if you chose the courier option and live in main centre, up to 2 weeks for post office deliveries.

If you have chosen to have your books delivered by courier please visit www.dawnwing.co.za, find the’Track My Parcel’ field and input your tracking number.
If you have chosen to have your books delivery by the South African postal service please visit www.postoffice.co.za/ContactUs/trackandtracedomestic.html, and enter your tracking number in the relevant field.
What's your return policy?
A change of heart return is the return of a non-defective item, and may only be done within seven (7) days of the date of purchase of the item.
To qualify for a change of heart return, the item must be returned to us unread and in its original condition and original unopened packaging (if applicable).
You can either post the book to us at:

Or we can send send a courier round to collect (at your expense).
Once we have received the package and verified the condition we will notify you and refund the full amount.
Regrettably we cannot offer this service to our international customers.
We make every effort to make sure the books arrive in their pristine original condition, but if you notice any damage to the books on delivery, please get in touch with us as soon as possible and within 14 days of delivery.
We will endeavour to send a replacement or alternatively offer a full refund for any damaged books at our cost.
Please note that we unfortunately cannot offer an exchange or refund on our second-hand books.
